MY NOTES
LOVE ME AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER LIKE YOU ONCE DID.
Revelation 2:2-5 NLT
[2] “I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars. [3] You have patiently suffered for me without quitting. [4] “But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first! [5] Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works you did at first. If you don’t repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place among the churches.Proverbs 4:20-22 NLT
[20] My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. [21] Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, [22] for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.Proverbs 4:23 NIV
[23] Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.Proverbs 4:23 NLT
[23] Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.Psalms 139:23 NLT
[23] Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
THE HEART OF WORSHIP
Beyond singing songs to God, there are many ways we can worship. Loving our neighbors. Serving people. Keeping God’s commands - are all ways that the bible says we can show our love for God.
THE WAY WE TREAT OTHERS.
MY NOTES
- Matthew 5:21-24 NLT
[21] “You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ [22] But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell. [23] “So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, [24] leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.
THE THINGS WE DO.
Ephesians 6:7 NLT
[7] Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.Genesis 2:5 ESV
[5] When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground,
“and there was no man to work (avodah) the ground.”
- Genesis 2:15 NIV
[15] The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
“The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work (avodah) it and keep it.”
Avodah: The Hebrew word that captures worship and work.
- Exodus 34:21 ESV
[21] “Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest. In plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.
God, in renewing the covenant with Moses, says, “Six days you shall work (avodah),”
- Exodus 8:1 NLT
[1] Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go back to Pharaoh and announce to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so they can worship me.
MY NOTES
“This is what the LORD says: ‘Let my people go, so that they may worship (avodah) me.’”
- Joshua 24:15 ESV
[15] And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
”…But as for me and my house, we will serve (avodah) the Lord.”
Work as Worship unto the LORD.
Colossians 3:23 NLT
[23] Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.Colossians 3:17 NLT
[17] And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
Praise and Worship in Song Worship is love expressed from our hearts, in response to Who God is and what He has done.
- Psalms 86:11-12 NIV
[11] Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. [12] I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
Worship the Lord with Song.
Psalms 100:1-2 NIV
[1] Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. [2] Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.Psalms 95:1 NIV

[4] Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: Make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
MY NOTES
THE BATTLE OF PRIDE.
- Isaiah 14:12-15 NKJV
[12] “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! [13] For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; [14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ [15] Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.
Pride is more than just a bad Christian behavior, when we operate in pride, we are cooperating in the spirit of Lucifer.
Proverbs 16:18 ESV
[18] Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.James 4:10 NIV
[10] Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.James 4:6 NLT
[6] And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
The Blessing of Obedience.
- Deuteronomy 28:1-2 NIV
[1] If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. [2] All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:
MY NOTES
When We Praise:
1) We Receive Strength.
Psalms 8:2 NLT
[2] You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.Matthew 21:15 NLT
[15] The leading priests and the teachers of religious law saw these wonderful miracles and heard even the children in the Temple shouting, “Praise God for the Son of David.” But the leaders were indignant.Matthew 21:16 NLT
[16] They asked Jesus, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” “Yes,” Jesus replied. “Haven’t you ever read the Scriptures? For they say, ‘You have taught children and infants to give you praise.’”
2) We Receive Breakthrough over Enemies and Opposition.
Matthew 1:2 NKJV
[2] Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers.Matthew 1:3 NKJV
[3] Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram.
Judah means “Praise” and Perez means “breakthrough”Praise gives birth to breakthrough. Today’s praise is the seed for tomorrow’s breakthrough.
The worshippers would go out before the battle…
2 Chronicles 20:2-3 NIV
[2] Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army is coming against you from Edom, from the other side of the Dead Sea. It is already in Hazezon Tamar” (that is, En Gedi). [3] Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah.2 Chronicles 20:15 NLT
[15] He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.2 Chronicles 20:17 NIV
[17] You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’ ”2 Chronicles 20:18-19 NIV
[18] Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the Lord. [19] Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.2 Chronicles 20:21-22 NLT
[21] After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising him for his holy splendor. This is what they sang: “Give thanks to the Lord; his faithful love endures forever!” [22] At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves.2 Chronicles 20:27-28 NLT
[27] Then all the men returned to Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat leading them, overjoyed that the Lord had given them victory over their enemies. [28] They marched into Jerusalem to the music of harps, lyres, and trumpets, and they proceeded to the Temple of the Lord.
3) We Receive Faith for Our Breakthrough.
MY NOTES
Psalm 34:3 ESV
[3] Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! Can God get any bigger? NO, but when we worship he gets bigger to us.Who or What are you going to allow to be or become bigger to you: Your problem or God’s promise? Your storm or your Savior?
Acts of the Apostles 16:25-36 NLT
[25] Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. [26] Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! [27] The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. [28] But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!” [29] The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. [30] Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” [31] They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” [32] And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. [33] Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized. [34] He brought them into his house and set a meal before them, and he and his entire household rejoiced because they all believed in God. [35] The next morning the city officials sent the police to tell the jailer, “Let those men go!” [36] So the jailer told Paul, “The city officials have said you and Silas are free to leave. Go in peace.”
4) We Receive Breakthrough over Discouragement, Depression, and Despair.
- Isaiah 61:3 KJV
[3] to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
5) We Receive Breakthrough for Direction.
Acts of the Apostles 13:2 NLT
[2] One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Appoint Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.”Isaiah 62:10 NIV
[10] Pass through, pass through the gates! Prepare the way for the people. Build up, build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations.Isaiah 60:18 NASB1995
[18] Violence will not be heard again in your land, Nor devastation or destruction within your borders; But you will call your walls salvation, and your gates praise.
6) We Receive Breakthrough Over the Sin and Shame of Our Past.
- Luke 7:36-47 NIV
[36] When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. [37] A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. [38] As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. [39] When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.” [40] Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Tell me, teacher,” he said. [41] “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. [42] Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?” [43] Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.” “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said. [44] Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. [45] You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. [46] You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. [47] Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”
The moments we deserve God the least we need him the most.
MY NOTES
Acts of the Apostles 13:22 NLT
[22] But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’1 Peter 4:8 ESV
[8] Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.Hebrews 4:16 NIV
[16] Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.Hebrews 4:16 NLT
[16] So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.Ezekiel 46:9-10 NIV
[9] “ ‘When the people of the land come before the Lord at the appointed festivals, whoever enters by the north gate to worship is to go out the south gate; and whoever enters by the south gate is to go out the north gate. No one is to return through the gate by which they entered, but each is to go out the opposite gate. [10] The prince is to be among them, going in when they go in and going out when they go out.James 4:6 ESV
[6] But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
“…But as for me and my house, we will serve (avodah) the Lord.”
