The Power of a Holy Life

The holy life is filled with the power of the spirit of God. This is a power that is accessible to those who walk by faith and not by site. Our power in Christ does not have to be limited by our vision but only by the faith we put in God!

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: [7] (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) [8] We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.) —2 Corinthians 5:6-8 KJV

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, in keeping with the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus, [2] To Timothy, my dear son: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. —2 Timothy 1:1-2 NIV

Typical greeting from Paul. This does help us to understand the level of relationship they had.

I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. [4] Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. [5] I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
—2 Timothy 1:3-5 NIV

Timothy comes from a legacy of faith. Begs to ask the question, what type of legacy are we trying to leave in our family?

What types of legacy’s of sin are you trying to break?

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. —2 Timothy 1:6 NIV

We fan the flame we want to burn.
What flame do you fan?

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. [8] So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. —2 Timothy 1:7-8 NIV

1:7 Paul mentions three characteristics that effective Christian leaders need: power, love, and self-discipline. Power does not refer to having a dynamic personality but to the boldness that comes from confidence in the gospel (Romans 1:16). Love pairs care and concern with tenderhearted treatment of those we serve. A good leader must have a cool head and keep a tight rein on his or her selfish desires. These are available to us because the Holy Spirit lives in us.

Leadership is a burden if done properly.

Follow his leading each day so that your life will more fully exhibit these characteristics.

He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, [10] but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. —2 Timothy 1:9-10 NIV

He saved us not because of what we have done but for what we find purpose in, what we believe in.

What is your purpose?
To live a Holy life.
