Exposition:
I. Discipleship requires
A disciple is someone who follows Jesus, is being changed by Jesus and is committed to the mission of Jesus.
Discipleship is helping people trust and follow Jesus.
a. Discipleship requires relationship (2 Tim. 3:10)
b. Discipleship builds character (2 Tim. 3:10)
c. Character helps us withstand persecution and suffering (2 Tim. 3:11-13)
II. Discipleship requires
a. Discipleship requires God’s Word to Know (2 Tim. 3:14-15)
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Rom. 14:17)
b. Discipleship requires God’s Word to Grow (2 Tim. 3:16)
“Men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Pet. 1:21b)
“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth, it shall not return to me empty.” (Isa. 55:11)
c. Discipleship requires God’s Word to Go (2 Tim. 3:17)
Relationships and God’s Word converge to make disciples who Know, Grow and Go for Jesus Christ.
