Gospel Foundation

1. Propitiation: Wrath

2. Expiation: Guilt

3. Imputation: Identity

4. Infiltration:

Big Idea: God, through Christ, has empowered me with the Holy Spirit for daily living.

1. The Christian life is a spiritual life.

a. The kingdom of heaven is a spiritual kingdom not a physical one:
John 4:24

b. We cannot worship God in the human flesh:
John 3:3-7

Real worship doesn’t happen by doing religious things. Real worship happens through a spiritual relationship with God.

Ezekiel 36:25-27

2. The Christian life is not about you doing great things for God, it’s about God doing great things through you.

a. The very reason that God put the Spirit of Christ in us at the moment of salvation was so He could live His supernatural life through us.

Galatians 5:16-24

b. Our confidence and competency to live out real Christianity comes only through the Spirit of God living through us.

2 Corinthians 3:4-6

3. The Christian life is a lifestyle of moment by moment dependency upon the Holy Spirit.

a. We must exchange our way of living for Christ’s in real time.

Galatians 2:20

b. We must begin to live by faith and not our feelings.

“This is the “how,” and there is no other. It is the power of the crucified, risen, and glorified Christ through the agency of the Holy Spirit, by faith.” —Francis Schaeffer

Romans 6:11-14

God’s METHOD for living a holy is through dependency upon the Holy Spirit and not dependency upon ourselves.

4. How do we actually apply this to our lives?

a. We have to cultivate the habit of refusing to quench and grieve the Holy Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:19
Ephesians 4:30

3 ways to live so we don’t quench the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives.
1. We must live a life of real time repentance
2. We must live a life of spiritual accountability
3. We must live a life of alignment to the word of God

b. We have to cultivate the habit of giving up control:

We give up control by prayer:
1. Focused prayer
2. Real time prayer

We give up control by surrender: I can’t but Christ can.
