Be Satisfied
Part of Sermon Notes

Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Big Idea: God satisfies all who seek His righteousness.

1. We are all born with an

spiritual hunger and thirst:
Matthew 5:6
Romans 2:15

2. God has promised to

our hunger and thirst:
Matthew 5:6

What does righteousness mean?
Righteousness is a state of being where our hearts are in alignment with God. Jesus is saying “those who long to be in right relationship with God will get their wish.”

Romans 4:3
Matthew 23:27-28
Matthew 11:28
Romans 3:21-25
Ezekiel 36:26

When we

ourselves to the Holy Spirit we begin to experience the life transforming power of God’s righteousness in our lives.
Our personal lives are transformed.
The way we see the world is transformed.

3. Constantly

your hunger and thirst for God’s righteousness.

Promise: Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Meaning: Our

in life is contingent upon seeking God and aligning our hearts with His heart.

Promise: Deuteronomy 4:29 “But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Meaning: We cannot be

about seeking God.

Promise: John 6:37 “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.”

Meaning: God will never, ever

one of His children. This should make us very bold in our prayer life and in trusting God to take good care of us.

Pastors Challenge:
1. Take 3 hours this week, get alone and seek God.
2. Cut out the things that ruin your appetite for God.
3. Find 2 or 3 things that have historically “wet your appetite” for God.
