Isaiah 53:4-5

Isaiah 53:4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are HEALED.

Isaiah 53:4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,…

…and with his wounds we are HEALED.

Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

1 Peter 2:13 Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, 14 or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. 16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

1 Peter 2:18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. 19 For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God.

1 Peter 2:21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, BUT CONTINUED ENTRUSTING HIMSELF TO HIM WHO JUDGES JUSTLY.

1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. BY HIS WOUNDS YOU HAVE BEEN HEALED. 25 For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

SALVATION (SPIRITUAL HEALING)

1. HAVE BEEN SAVED

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

  • PAST TENSE
  • JUSTIFICATION
  • PENALTY OF SIN

2. BEING SAVED

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

  • PRESENT TENSE
  • SANCTIFICATION
  • POWER OF SIN

3. SHALL BE SAVED

Romans 5:9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.

  • FUTURE TENSE
  • GLORIFICATION
  • PRESENCE OF SIN

WHY IS THIS BETTER?

  • We don’t KNOW what’s best, but God KNOWS and DOES what’s best.

  • Everything else we request of God is a SECONDARY and TEMPORARY need.

“Man, your sins are forgiven you.”

Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’?

“I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home.” 25 And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, glorifying God.

  • Jesus’ healing of our souls allows for the ETERNAL HEALING of our bodies.

  • Jesus’ healing of our souls allows for His PRESENCE and POWER to be WITH US NOW.

  • His presence means we can TRUST Him

  • His presence means we have HOPE, JOY, and PEACE…REAL and UNSHAKEABLE.

You think you need God to answer your prayer now in order for you to have peace…

You need to know that Jesus is present in your life and that He has never forsaken you.
