From the inception of the early church the power of the Holy Spirit was evident. As the apostles received the Holy Spirit on the morning of Pentecost the bold preaching of the gospel began and so did the indwelling work of the Holy Spirit. When the bold preaching of the gospel went forth the transforming work of the Holy Spirit became evident as each individual believer began giving above and beyond to meet the needs of the many. Giving has always been a fundamental part of our worship. The present passage shows how serious it is before God and the responsibility of the believer to be true to his/her calling.
