CHRISTOLOGY – The Doctrine Of Christ

Colossians 1:18, “…he (Jesus) is the head of the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have preeminence.”

I. Names and Titles Of Christ

A. Jesus – The name Jesus occurs most often in the four Gospels (612 times verses only 71 times in the rest of the New Testament). In contrast, the name Christ is found in the Gospels only 56 times verses 256 times in the rest of the New Testament. We see the name Jesus used more before His death and resurrection, while Christ is used more after. Jesus is the personal name of the Lord. It is from the Greek form of the Hebrew word Joshua, and both mean “Jehovah our Savior.” And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins. Matthew 1:21

B. Christ – The name Christ means ‘The Anointed One’. This is the official title of the Son of God.

  1. Christ has been anointed prophet – Moses said, ‘The lord God shall raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren; to Him you shall give heed in everything He says to you. And is shall be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’Acts 3:22-23

  2. Christ has been anointed priest – Since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:14-15

  3. Christ has been anointed king – And behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and His kingdom will have no end. Luke 1:31-32

C. Messiah – This is the Hebrew word with the same meaning as Christ. The Old Testament is full of Messiah predictions while the New Testament is full of Christ fulfillments. He found first his own brother Simon, and said to him, ‘We have found the Messiah’ (which translated means Christ). John 1:41

D. Lord – This is Christ’s title of deity, that of authority. It comes from the Greek word ‘kurios’ which is translated as Lord, God, or master. It is often a translation of the Old Testament name ‘Jehovah’. When we acknowledge that Jesus is ‘Lord’, we are recognizing that He is Jehovah, God, and Master.

E. Jesus Christ – This combination of names emphasizes what He was to what He is. That is, Jesus who once humbled Himself, is now exalted.

F. Christ Jesus – This combination of names emphasizes that He who was exalted, was once humbled. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of god, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-8

G. The Lord Jesus Christ – This is the Lord’s fullest title which emphasizes that God became a man so that He might be our Christ or Messiah. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Ephesians 1:3

H. I Am – This is an Old Testament title brought forth into the New Testament. Jehovah revealed Himself to Moses in the burning bush as the great ‘I AM’. Jesus claims to be ‘I AM’ in John 8:58; Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.”

I. The Son Of God – this is the Lord’s title of personal glory and deity. And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35

J. The Son Of Man – This is the Millennial title of Christ. Wherever it is recorded, it is used in connection with the coming kingdom reign of the Lord Jesus Christ. The name occurs 88 times in the New Testament. 84 of those occurrences are in the Gospels, on in Acts, one in Hebrews, and two in Revelation. Note Daniel 7:13-15 with Acts 7:56, Revelation 1:13 and Revelation 14:14.

K. The Son Of Abraham – This name recognizes that Christ was a Jew and therefore able to fulfill the promises made to Abraham. Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to on, “And to your seed,” that is, Christ. Galatians 3:16

L. Son Of David – This is the royal title of Christ. It recognizes His authority to reign on the throne of David. And the multitudes going before Him, and those who followed after were crying out, saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!” Matthew 21:9

M. The Son Of The Highest – This is Christ’s title of pre-eminence. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord god will give Him the throne of His father David. Luke 1:32

N. The Word – As spoken words reveal the invisible thoughts of man, so the visible (living) Word reveals to us the invisible God. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 And He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood; and His name is called the Word Of God. Revelation 19:13

O. The Lamb and he looked upon Jesus as He walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” John 1:36 And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, ” To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.” Revelation 5:13 “These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.” Revelation 17:14

P. Emmanuel - “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD, AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND
THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.” Matthew
1:23

II. The Incarnation Of Christ

The word incarnation comes from the Latin word meaning ‘enfleshment’; thus when we speak of the incarnation of Christ, we mean the ‘enfleshment or God’, or God manifest in the flesh. This is one of the foundational truths upon which our faith rests. Without the incarnation there would be no Christianity.

A. Scriptural Testimony of The Incarnation - “And behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. “He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and His kingdom will have no end.” And Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” Luke 1:31 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows. When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her, desired to put her away secretly. But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. “And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.” Now all this took place that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD, AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.” Matthew 1:18

B. The Objects Of The Incarnation

  1. To Reveal the Invisible God - No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. John 1:18

  2. To Fulfill Prophecy - “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.” Micah 5:2

  1. To Fulfill the Davidic Covenant - “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “When I shall raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land. “In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell securely; And this is His name by which He will be called, ‘The LORD our righteousness.’ Jeremiah 23:5

  2. To Sacrifice For Our Sins - By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10:10 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. Hebrews 10:14

III. The Two Natures Of Christ

A. The Humanity of Christ - Christ possessed a human body, soul, and spirit. He was Jewish and was recognized as such. Even though God was His Father, Jesus did have a human mother. But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law. Galatians 4:4 He developed just like other humans; And the Child continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him. Luke 2:40 Jesus was the only perfect human being the world has ever seen. He did not have a sin nature and never sinned. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

B. The Deity Of Christ - When we speak of the Deity of Christ we mean that Christ was God.

  1. Divine Predictions - The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand, Until I make Thine enemies a footstool for Thy feet.” Psalm 110:1 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

  2. Divine Names - Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” John 20:28 And we
know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding, in order that we might know Him who is true, and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:20 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:16 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as a dead man. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, Revelation 1:17

  1. Divine Equality - “And now, glorify Thou Me together with Thyself, Father, with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was. John 17:5 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form. Phil 2:6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped. Colossians 2:9

  2. Divine Relationship - “I and the Father are one.” John 10:30

  1. Divine Worship - Worship belongs only to God. “I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8 “And now, glorify Thou Me together with Thyself, Father, with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was. John 17:5 And when He again brings the first-born into the world, He says, “AND LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM.” Hebrews 1:6

  2. Divine Attributes

a. Omnipotence - And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Matthew 28:18 For by Him all things were created, both in the
heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or
authorities– all things have been created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Colossians 1:16

b. Omniscience - “Now we know that You know all things, and have no need for anyone to question You; by this we believe that You came from God.” John 16:30

c. Omnipresence - teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

d. Immutability - but He, on the other hand, because He abides forever, holds His priesthood
permanently. Hebrews 7:24 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.
Hebrews 13:8

e. Everlastingness - Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” John 8:58 See also Micah 5:2, Revelation 1:17

f. Holiness - And you know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. 1 Peter 2:22 WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH. 1 John 3:5

g. Love - and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:19

C. The Blending of the Two Natures in One Person - This is a truth of Scripture that we in our human wisdom can not fully comprehend. These are infinite facts and God does not seek to explain them but simply makes a declaration of fact. Christ was not God and Man; He was the God-Man. Two natures, with one personality.

IV. The Death Of Christ

Christ’s death on the cross is the fundamental truth of the Word of God. We see the emblems of Christ and Him crucified beginning in Genesis and throughout the Old Testament. The reason for Bethlehem is Calvary!

A. The Fact Of The Death

  1. Old Testament Anticipation

a. The coats of skin - And the LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and
clothed them. Genesis 3:21

b. Abel’s lamb - And Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and for his offering; Genesis 4:4

c. The offering of Isaac - Genesis chapter 22

d. The Passover lamb - Exodus chapter 12

e. The Levitical Sacrificial System - Leviticus chapter 1 through 7

f. The brazen serpent - Numbers 21

g. The slain lamb - Isaiah 53

h. The Seed of the Woman - And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your
seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
Genesis 3:15

i. The Sin Offering of Psalm 22

j. The cut-off Messiah of Daniel 9:26

  1. New Testament Revelation

a. His Death - For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:10

b. His Cross - but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles
foolishness, 1 Corinthians 1:23

c. His Blood - for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:28

d. He was made sin for us - He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

e. He died the Just for the unjust - For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; 1 Peter 3:18

f. He was made a curse for us - Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us– for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE”– Galatians 3:13

*B. The Form of the Death *- Christ’s death was a natural death in the sense that He died just as any other man would. Christ’s death was abnormal in the sense that God cannot die yet God became a man so that He could die for our sins. Before man had ever sinned God had made the provision for Calvary For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you 1 Peter 1:20 Christ’s death was of His own volition, “For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. “No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I
received from My Father.” John 10:17-18

C. Scriptural Names of Christ’s Death

  1. The Atonement - This is an Old Testament idea that means ‘to cover’. In the New Testament sense it means ‘At-one-ment’, being at one with God through the sacrifice of His Son.

  2. Sacrifice - Clean out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed. 1 Corinthians 5:7

  3. Offering - By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. Hebrews 10:10,14

  1. Ransom - just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28

  2. Propitiation - and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. 1 John 2:2

  1. Reconciliation - namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19

  2. Substitution - But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our
iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. Isaiah 53:5

D. The Objectives of Christ’s Death

  1. The Manifestation of Divine Character - But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,…. for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Romans 3:21, 26

  2. The Vindication of Divine Law - “I do not nullify the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.” Galatians 2:21 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us– for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE”–. The law condemns the sinner to death; Christ took the sinners place,
therefore, Christ paid the law’s demand. Galatians 3:13

  3. The Foundation of Divine Forgiveness - In Him we have redemption through His blood, the
forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, Ephesians 1:7

E. The Extent of Christ’s Death

  1. It Was Universal - Christ paid for all sin on the cross! But we do see Him who has been made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. Hebrews 2:9 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony borne at the proper time. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. 1 John 2:2

  1. It Is Limited - Each and every person’s sin has been paid for. However, the benefits of Christ’s work on the cross are only effective to those who believe. “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18

F. The Results of Christ’s Death

  1. In Relation To The Sinner

a. A Substitute Was Provided - …Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of god He might taste death for everyone. Hebrews 2:9

b. A Ransom Was Provided - who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony borne at the
proper time. 1 Timothy 2:6

c. A Propitiation Was Provided - In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4:10

d. An Attraction Was Provided - “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” John 12:32

e. Salvation Was Provided - For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, Titus 2:11

  1. In Relation To The Believer

a. Reconciliation - Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through
Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 2 Corinthians 5:18

b. Redemption - In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, Ephesians 1:7

c. Justification - Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 5:1

d. Sanctification - By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10:10

e. Admission - Since therefore, brethren, we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, Hebrews 10:19-20

f. Liberation - Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil; and might deliver those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. Hebrews 2:14

  1. In Relation To Satan

a. Dethronement - “Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world shall be cast out. John 12:31

b. Nullification of Satan’s Power - Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil; Hebrews 2:14

c. Defeat - “And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment; …. and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. John 16:8, 11

V. The Resurrection Of Christ

A. Its Place in Scripture - The resurrection of Christ is mentioned over 100 times in scripture!

B. Its Part in Apostolic Testimony - And with great power the apostles were giving witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all. Acts 4:33

C. Its Prominence in the Gospel - If Christ is not risen then there can be no gospel! For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

D. Its Preeminence in Salvation - and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. …and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 1 Corinthians 15:14, 17

E. Proofs of the Resurrection

  1. The Empty Tomb

  2. The Undisturbed Grave Clothes

  3. The Appearances of Christ - To these He also presented Himself alive, after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God. Acts 1:3 See also 1 Corinthians 15:5-8 where Scripture tells us that Christ appeared to over 500 people.

  1. The Transformed Disciples - At the death of Christ the faith of the disciples was shattered! After the resurrection, these same men transformed the world.

F. Results of the Resurrection

  1. Declared Christ’s Divine Sonship - who was declared the Son of God with power by the
resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, Romans 1:4

  2. Demonstrated Christ’s Victory over Death and Satan - “O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O
    DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law;
but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57

  3. Gives Power to the Believer - that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; Philippians 3:10 See also Ephesians 1:17ff.

VI. The Ascension and Enthronement of Christ

A. The Ascension was that event in which Christ departed visibly from the earth to heaven. And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was departing, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them; and they also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9

B. The Enthronement of Christ is that act of God by which He gave to the risen and ascended Lord full power and glory, allowing Him to sit down on the right hand of God’s throne. ‘He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. Revelation 3:21

C. The Results of the Ascension and Enthronement

  1. It gives us access to God - Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14

  1. It gives us an Intercessor with God - For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; Hebrews 9:24

  2. It gives us power for service - “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father. John 14:12

  3. It gives us our Heavenly Position - and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus, Ephesians 2:6

THE DEITY OF CHRIST
Selected Scripture

Isaiah 9:6 - 7 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.

Jeremiah 23:5 - 6 “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “When I shall raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land. “In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell securely; And this is His name by which He will be called, ‘The LORD our righteousness.’

Zechariah 12:4 - 10 “In that day,” declares the LORD, “I will strike every horse with bewilderment, and his rider with madness. But I will watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. “Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘A strong support for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through the LORD of hosts, their God.’ “In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while the inhabitants of Jerusalem again dwell on their own sites in Jerusalem. “The LORD also will save the tents of Judah first in order that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not be magnified above Judah. “In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the LORD before them. “And it will come about in that day that I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. “And I
will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him, like the bitter weeping over a first-born.

Titus 2:9 - 13 Urge bondslaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect. For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus;

Titus 3:4 - 6 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

John 1:1, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us…

John 20:28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
