Five Descriptions of God’s Love
1. The love of the Father for the Son (John 3:35, 5:20)
2. God’s providential love for all that He has made (Matt. 6)
3. God’s salvific stance for the whole world (John 3:16; 1 John 2:2)
4. God’s effective, and selecting love of the elect (Deut. 10:14-15; Mal. 1:2-3; Eph. 5:25; Rom. 9:15-16)
5. God’s conditionally demonstrated love for His people – conditioned on obedience (Jude v. 21; John 15:9)
