1. The Scene of Chaos - Matt 2:1-18

“The world into which the Messiah comes is in chaos and decay, … [it] is ill.” —-Davis and Allison

2. The Peace of Christ

Peace I leave with you; my Peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid
—John 14:27

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (ESV)
—John 16:33

- Peace with God: Reconciliation

Hark! The herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!”
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With the angelic host proclaim,
“Christ is born in Bethlehem!” —Hark the Herald Angels Sing

[8] but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. [10] For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. [11] More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. —Romans 5:8–11

3. Receive this Peace

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. —Romans 5:1
