Points of Meditation & Reflection
Sermon Title &Text: “Giants do fall but, sometimes the giant is you!”
Text: 1 Samuel 17:45-47
1. The Israelites issued their battle cry every day. They suited up and went to the front lines with God on their side. But for forty days they were prevented from moving forward because of what the enemy said.
2. Every day they had been wavering. Every day their comfort held them back. Every day the giant kept coming and coming and coming. Then David showed up and said in verse 45, “I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel..this day the LORD will deliver you into my hand.”
a. David was depending on the power of God to lead them to victory. We’ve got to depend on God to lead us to victory.
b. Faith thrives in discomfort.
c. God hasn’t called any of us to avoid the dangers this world. Instead, he has called us to go through this life with a renewed mind willing to face whatever comes our way.
3. The good news is that God has made a way for these giants to fall. Jesus has already defeated the giants in your life. He has already overcome the enemy. Jesus broke the power of Satan at the cross.
For the battle is not yours, it’s the Lords.
Giants do fall but sometimes the giant is you!
