Illustration: The man whose wife left him and became a faithful attender. As soon as they reconciled, he disappeared. The family whose business was in trouble, but as soon as they got on firm financial footing, they were sporadic, at best. The family who was diagnosed with disease, and once the prayers were answered, they had no use for church.

2.He wants to be the Source of Life. (v. 35; v. 53)

God said to Moses, “ I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘ I AM has sent me to you.’” —Exodus 3:14

Jesus is quite intentionally signaling who he is.

Here he is the bread of life. But later he will go on to say:

1. I am the light of the world.
2. I and the door.
3. I am the good shepherd.
4. I am the resurrection and the life.
5. I am the way, the truth, and the life.
6. I am the true vine.
