Summer at True Life - Part 5
Becoming Live Bait
Part of Summer at True Life 2018

(Ezekiel 33:11 NLT) As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of wicked people. I only want them to turn from their wicked ways so they can live. Turn! Turn from your wickedness, O people of Israel! Why should you die?

(Matthew 4:18-20 NLT) 18) One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. 19) Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” 20) And they left their nets at once and followed him.

The word of God is very clear in stating that it has always been and always will be God’s heart that not one person would miss out on having a personal relationship with Him, nor go to hell. The word of God is also very clear that God uses people to reach people. Today we will realize that evangelism has not just been left up to the evangelist, but every believer has a responsibility for personal evangelism and to become “Live Bait!”

The Five Points to Becoming “Live Bait”

Jesus was the greatest

and evangelist the world has ever known.

(John 4:1-4 AMPC) 1) NOW WHEN the Lord knew (learned, became aware) that the Pharisees had been told that Jesus was winning and baptizing more disciples than John— 2) Though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples—3) He left Judea and returned to Galilee. 4) It was necessary for Him to go through Samaria.

1) He was

to go after the lost!

His

to lead lost people back to His father compelled Him to go that were outside of His zone. These are the places that often bear the most .

(John 4:5-6 NIV) 5) So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6) Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.

2) He made

.

Jesus put Himself in a

(Jacob’s well) where He would have contact with the . Too many Christians fail to take advantage of the extensive contacts they have with unbelievers at their , while shopping, their , etc., or with their unsaved family members.

(John 4:7,9 NIV) 7) When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”

9) The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

3) He

.

Jesus purposely engaged in conversation based on a common human need (a drink of water). He didn’t just come out of nowhere and start preaching to her. By using water as His point of contact, He made her feel comfortable.

Jesus ignored cultural and gender bias to express God’s love for her.

(John 4:10 NIV) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

4) He offered the

.

At the right

, He offered her water.

After we have

to a person, we need to pray for an and then not be to share the Gospel with them.

(John 4:16-19) NIV 16) He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” 17) “I have no husband,” she replied. Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18) The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” 19) “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.

5) He

it.

The bible teaches that the Gospel comes in

and not just with .

In this way, He was confirming the power and

of what He to her.
