Your Bible Why Not Use it #7
To Manage Your Money
Part of Leader Guide Questions
February 19, 2018

Review:
This week’s teaching keyed off of a very important Proverb (3:9-10)Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first-fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, your vats bursting with wine.

GETTING STARTED

LEADER - Remember, if your group is lacking in vulnerabililty or transparency, starting with an honest story of one of your own mistakes may signal to the group that it’s ok to not be perfect here.
Get the juices flowing by talking about the lessons about money you learned growing up? Perhaps some of these questions will help:
Were your parents intentional about teaching you to handle money well?
What lessons do you remember that taught you the value of money and other resources?
What do you wish you’d known that you know now? How would it have helped you as you grew up?
If you were to identify ONE critical PRINCIPLE from Scripture that everyone should know, what would that be?

IN THE WORD

LEADER - Feel the freedom as the discussion facilitator to move quickly through easily answered questions and take longer on the questions that the group engages more deeply with.
This week’s teaching truth:
When it comes to money I am both
endowed generously by God’s hand, and
coached wisely from God’s word.

Let’s explore the money-management principles found in the book of PROVERBS. Answer the questions for coaching in wisely managing what God has given you:

Q – Who’s behind what we (individually) may have? Proverbs 17:5, 22:2, 4

Q - What can money teach us about what’s most important? Proverbs 3:13-14, 8:10-11, 11:4, 16:16, 22:1

Q – What is the Biblical pathway to accumulating sufficient resources? Proverbs 6:10-11, 10:4, 14:23, 20:13, 21:5

Q – What does obsession with money bring about in a person’s life? Proverbs 1:19, 15:27, 23:4, 28:22, 25

Q – What about borrowing to get what you want sooner-than-later?…or co-signing on a loan? Proverbs 22:7, 17:18, 22:26-27

Q – How important is careful spending and/or investing? Proverbs 10:16, 27:23-24, 31:20

Q – What priority should I have on being a generous giver? Proverbs 3:27, 3:11-12, 11:24-25, 19:7, 22:9, 28:27

Q – Does God encourage me to have a savings plan? Proverbs 10:16, 13:22, 15:6

MY LIFE – OUR MISSION

LEADER - Encourage the group to not just be hearers of the Word of God, but doers. God’s Word prompts us to a heart obedience.
To SUM – At Christ Community Church, one of our church family’s 4 VALUES is “radical generosity”…living adventurously to impact our world. TO IMPACT THEIR WORLD, we see how the church lived with radical generosity (READ: Acts 2:44-45, 4:32-37). We see how Paul encouraged churches to be generous givers (READ 2 Corinthians 9:6-11). Jesus’ simple promise is stunning (READ Luke 6:38). Finish by asking two questions (1) What coaching did you receive from PROVERBS in this study? (2) How is the Spirit of God prompting you to be “radically generous” to impact your world for Jesus?
