Points of Meditation & Reflection

Sermon Title & Text: “Strength in the Lord” 1 Samuel 30:6

Redeemed. Restored. Growing in the Lord. That is our theme for 2017. This month we want to deepen our understanding of what is available to us through our personal prayer time with the Lord.

  1. From I Samuel 23 – 1 Samuel 30:5 there are many references to losing strength and not hearing from God. How do you contrast that with “But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God”?
  2. What does it mean to be strengthened in the Lord?

  3. David’s strength was hearing from the Lord. Here are three ways that God blesses us with His strength:
    a. God Directs 30:8
    b. God Provides 30:10-11
    c. God Gives 30:23

  4. Many suggest that Psalms 25 could be connected to the events of I Samuel 30. Spend time this week reflecting on where David was personally and spiritually, and how he sought, found and saw the Lord in those two passages.
  5. You’re Invited: We all identify with the pressures of life that could caused Saul, the 600 men and David to “lose their strength”. Yet, like David, you too are able to strengthen yourself in the Lord. Today, you will be invited to accept Christ as your personal savior and source of strength in this weakening world. We are praying with you and for you as God begins to strengthen your life in amazing ways.
  6. Edward will be at the back door after service eager to talk with you. You can also reach him throughout the week at (410) 356-3301. May God Bless your life mightily.

Notes:

Lord, we pray these notes and this message are a source of strength, guidance, and spiritual deepening for us all. Amen.

Edward
