Do It For A Day Part 2

Ephesians 5:15-17 (NLT)
15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.
16 Make the most of every opportunity (redeem the time) in these evil days.
17 Don’t act thoughtlessly but understand what the Lord wants you to do.

Congratulations we are 7 days into our 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting. Our goal is to make/break habits that create margin and empower us to live on mission. God wants us to live a fruitful and fulfilled life. Margin allows us to become who we were created to be; mission allows us to do what we were created to do.

Matthew 5:27-30 (NLT)
27 “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’
28 But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29 So if your eye–even your good eye–causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
30 And if your hand–even your stronger hand–causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

Romans 6:10-14 (NLT)
10 When he (Jesus) died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.
11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.
13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So, use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

Romans 8:2 (NLT)
2 And because you belong to him (Jesus), the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

The challenge to

is no longer rooted in power of because Jesus set us free from the power of ; we are no longer slaves to sin. The challenge to is rooted in the that our behavior.

To break a bad habit, we need to

it with a holy habit. This is where the model of formation comes in. In order to break an old habit and establish a new one, we need a
approach because as we learned last week
beats intensity every day of the week.

A new habit needs to be

. A habit has to be to your ; if it doesn’t than it won’t . If it doesn’t you on the inside, it won’t you on the outside.

Proverbs 27:23 (NLT)
23 Know (be diligent) the state of your flocks and put your heart into caring for your herds.

The key to connecting our heart to our

is to ask the question, ? do I want to do this, does this matter to me?

The second

in making a sustainable habit is
. Our new habit needs to be
; we have to know if we are or . Remember big dreams are accomplished through habits. We need and along the way.

Luke 14:27-28 (NLT)
27 And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.
28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?

are lifelines. In order to records, we have to records. Write down the and the timeline. We what matters.

Habakkuk 2:2 (NKJV)
2 Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make [it] plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.

The third 3M is

, we need small on a basis. Habits stay
when we focus on the and trust God with the outcomes.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

We have to eat the

one at a time. Small create small . It’s better to have
than one big victory, because
later you have created a
habit.

Meaningful, Measurable and Maintainable

can do this. can do this; the of sin has been broken and the of habits are under our .
