Cooperate & Challenge

3 Ways to Contribute Through Membership

1 .

Myself Accurately

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. —Romans 12:3

2 .

My Assignment

each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. —Romans 12:3a–5

in Diversity

- S - Spiritual Gifts. H – Heart. A – Abilities. P – Personality. E – Experiences.

3 .

My Gifts

Heart Attitude #5 - Participate in the

of the Church.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. —1 Peter 4:10–11

Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. —Romans 12:6–8

Speaking Gifts – Prophesy, Teaching, Exhortation, Leadership

Service Gifts – Service, Mercy, Giving

Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. —Romans 12:13

Heart Attitude #6 -

the Work Financially.

Do you not know that those who are employed in the temple service get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the sacrificial offerings? In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel. —1 Corinthians 9:13–14

Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer deserves his wages.” —1 Timothy 5:17–18

to where you are being given to.

Through Discipleship

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. —Matthew 28:18–20

Discipleship: The life-long process of learning to

Jesus.

The A.B.C.’s of Effective D-groups

A -

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer… Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. —Romans 12:9–12; 15-16

B -

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom… —Colossians 3:16

C -

And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. —1 Thessalonians 5:14

Discipleship Groups: 2-4 disciples of the same gender from Compass Church who covenant together to encourage one another to follow Jesus.

With God’s help, I will seek to: Meet once a week for at least one hour, unless genuinely hindered. Contribute to an atmosphere of confidentiality, honesty, openness and encouragement. Give and receive scriptural correction. Be held accountable for the goals I set for myself. Pray for one another. Pray about who I could replicate this process with.
