22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and SELF-CONTROL. There is no law against these things! —Galatians 5:22-23

24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, LET HIM DENY HIMSELF and take up his cross and follow me. —Matthew 16:24

7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. —2 Timothy 1:7

11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age. —Titus 2:11-12

8 So if we have enough food and clothing, LET US BE CONTENT. 9 But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. —1 Timothy 6:8-10

2 Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For IF WE COULD CONTROL OUR TONGUES, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. 3 We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. 4 And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. 5 In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. —James 3:2-6

3 God’s will is for you to be holy, SO STAY AWAY FROM ALL SEXUAL SIN. 4 Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor— 5 not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways. —1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

1 Now regarding the questions you asked in your letter. Yes, it is good to abstain from sexual relations. 2 But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband. 3 The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. 4 The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife. 5 Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control. —1 Corinthians 7:1-5

8 So I say to those who aren’t married and to widows—it’s better to stay unmarried, just as I am. 9 But IF THEY CAN’T CONTROL THEMSELVES, they should go ahead and marry. It’s better to marry than to burn with lust. —1 Corinthians 7:8-9

1. Keep your eye on the

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete EXERCISES SELF-CONTROL IN ALL THINGS. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I DISCIPLINE MY BODY AND KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. —1 Corinthians 9:24-27

2. Tap into the right

12 Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire AND THE POWER to do what pleases him. —Philippians 2:12-13

3. You and say no to sin

12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. 13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. —Romans 6:12-13

12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age. —Titus 2:12

14 So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. 15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for HE FACED ALL OF THE SAME TESTINGS WE DO, YET HE DID NOT SIN. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and WE WILL FIND GRACE TO HELP US WHEN WE NEED IT MOST. —Hebrews 4:14-16
