I. Introduction

Read Scripture:
The Lamb Breaks the First Six Seals
6 As I watched, the Lamb broke the first of the seven seals on the scroll.[a] Then I heard one of the four living beings say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 I looked up and saw a white horse standing there. Its rider carried a bow, and a crown was placed on his head. He rode out to win many battles and gain the victory.
3 When the Lamb broke the second seal, I heard the second living being say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse appeared, a red one. Its rider was given a mighty sword and the authority to take peace from the earth. And there was war and slaughter everywhere.
5 When the Lamb broke the third seal, I heard the third living being say, “Come!” I looked up and saw a black horse, and its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice from among the four living beings say, “A loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley will cost a day’s pay.[b] And don’t waste[c] the olive oil and wine.”
7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living being say, “Come!” 8 I looked up and saw a horse whose color was pale green. Its rider was named Death, and his companion was the Grave.[d] These two were given authority over one-fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword and famine and disease[e] and wild animals. —Revelation 6:1-8
A. Review

B. Chapter 6 begins the Tribulation and the judgement of God


  1. There is a stampede that will eliminate and destroy everything in its path
  2. 4 Horses are metaphors for the overarching judgements that are coming upon the earth
  3. This period call the tribulation is mentioned 60 times in the bible.
  4. John’s vision is a wild vision, like someone on drugs watching a movie
  5. 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse
  6. This chapter connects chapter 5 and Jesus breaking the seals of the scroll
  7. There are 3 sets of 7 judgements

    a. The 7th seal ushers in the 7 Trumpets
    b. The 7th trumpet ushers in the 7 Bowls
    c. After the 7th bowl, God’s judgment is finished

II. The Seals Are Opened

A. V. 1-2 the White Horse arrives

  1. He is the counterfeit to Jesus

  2. Jesus’ crown is permanent

    • Jesus comes with a sword - the rider comes with a bow

  3. This imposter is the Anti-Christ also called

    a. 2 Thel. 2:1-12—Lawlessness
    b. Rev. 19:10—The Beast

  4. He comes in peace

  5. What will the Antichrist do?

    a. . Blaspheme God
    b. Oppose God
    c. Exalt Himself
    d. Set Himself up in God’s temple
    e. Declare himself God

  6. Will we see the Anti-Christ?

  7. The White Horse is Deception
  8. He has friends who join him

B. V.3—The Red Horse follows

  1. “Red” in the bible means carnage and terrorism
  2. Antichrist will change and move us into war like no other
  3. V.4—A great sword - He put down the diplomacy

  4. Matthew 24—Jesus predicted

    a. Deception
    b. War and kingdoms in conflict
    c. But this is the mother of all wars leading to Armageddon

  5. The Black Horse is WAR

C. 5—The Black Horse follows

1.He holds scales in his hand

  1. V.6—This is famine and economic collapse

  2. Today nearly 1 billion are malnourished and is one of the greatest threats to humans’ survival along with lack of water

  3. The fall out of war will cause

    a. Famine and lack of food
    b. Nuclear fallout will make it impossible to eat

  4. The population of the world will also be a challenge

  5. The black horse brings famine

D. The Green Pale Horse follows

  1. V. 7-8—It was death and hell

  2. ¼ die as a result—2 billion if the population is 8 billion at this time. It will not because of the rapture

  3. . The Sword—Red Horse-War

  4. Famine and disease—The Black Horse

  5. Wild animals (beasts)—weaken human kind taken over by animals or rats who brought disease that killed ¼ of Europe

  6. The Green Pale Horse is Death

E. V.9-11—the 5th Seal—the martyrdom of the Believers


  1. Yes, there are believers during the tribulation

    a. Rev. 13:15-18

    1. Believers will die for not worshipping the beast
    2. And for not taking the mark 666

    b. Rev. 7—Many get saved during this time period
    c. They won’t be able to buy or sell because they don’t have the mark of the beast

F. V. 12-14—The 6th Seal is opened—Universal Natural Catastrophes

  1. Earthquakes, volcanos and meteor showers, asteroids, tsunamis
  2. Many think we are seeing the blood moon
  3. These final judgments will bring the end and the second return of Jesus will be soon

G. V. 15-17—People respond negatively and in despair

  1. Everyone left alive will respond in terror and a desire to die
  2. They can’t stand the wrath of the Lamb
  3. They do not bend their knee and repent
  4. They HIDE from God as we have from the beginning
  5. We either run away from God or toward God

III. Next Steps

1. We must confess and repent NOW

2. We must recommit and surrender NOW

3. We must commit to share our faith NOW
