For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

1. The Definition Of Glorification

  • Glorification is the ultimate and absolute physical, mental, and spiritual perfection
    and

    of each believer into the image of Christ. (Rom 8:22-23; 1 Cor 15:41, 44, 51-55; 2 Cor 4:14-18; 5:1-4; Jude 1:24-25)

  • It is in essence the completion of our salvation.

2. The Time Of Glorification

1) Positionally

  • God considers glorification an accomplished fact at the moment of and even refers to it as tense for believers. God sees us NOW as we will be THEN. (Rom 8:29-30; cf. Rom 4:17b)

2) Practically

  • We will be glorified at the /1st Resurrection. (1 Jn 3:2; 1 Cor 15:51-55)

3)

  • We will forever continue throughout all eternity glorified.

3. The Purpose Of Glorification

  • Glorification is the logical and necessary final side of the great salvation triangle, completing justification and sanctification.

1) Justification saved us from the of sin at salvation.

2) Sanctification primarily deals with saving us from the of sin through life.

3) Glorification saves us from the of sin at the Rapture/First Resurrection.

4. The Results Of Glorification

  • What kind of body will the believer possess in eternity?

1) It will be a body like Christ’s glorified body. (Phil 3:21; 1 Jn 3:2)

2) It will be a body of flesh and bone. (Lk 24:39)

3) It will be a
body. (Lk 24:31)

  • The answer to the oft asked question, “Will we know our loved ones in heaven?” is clearly, “Yes!” Moses, Elijah, Abraham, and Lazarus were all instantly recognizable in their heavenly bodies. (Mt 17:1-4; Lk 16:22-24)

4) It will be a spiritual body. (1 Cor 15:44, 49)

5) It will be a body unlimited by time, , space, or objects like walls. (Lk 24:31; Jn 20:19, 26; Acts 1)

6) It will be a glorious body. (Rom 8:18)
