
Focus Your Passion: Philippians 3:4-15

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, —Titus 2:11–12
Passion pointed in the wrong direction leads to
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. —Romans 12:11
Urgent Wisdom: Passion without wisdom is
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. —Revelation 2:4–5
Passion is not your purpose, but passion
All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. —Philippians 3:15
3 Ways to Focus Your Passion
1 . Reorder Your
If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. —Philippians 3:4b–6
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ —Philippians 3:7–8
A little religion can be like an
and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. —Philippians 3:9
2 . Recognize Your
I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. —Philippians 3:10–11
3 . Run Toward The
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. —Philippians 3:12-13a
Passion +
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 3:13b–14
