Willful vs. Working Through sin…

: choosing to do what you want even if God’s Word says otherwise.

: You have a struggle but by God’s grace you will overcome.

So the Lord said to Solomon, “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates. Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son. 13 Yet I will not tear the whole kingdom from him, but will give him one tribe for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.” —1 Kings 11:11-13 (NIV)

Bonus: Remember, aside from the kings on earth, there is always a better KING!! (King Jesus)

Let’s Apply Kings:

brings a
, but
brings a
.

This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. —Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV)

Where is Jesus found in Kings?

Jesus isn’t explicitly named in 1 and 2 Kings, but the theme points to Jesus as the promised Messiah and King of Kings, and reminds us that we can never trust an earthly king, but always hold to our heavenly King!
