Rhythm: Bible Engagement

Rhythm: a regularly recurring sequence of events, actions, or processes.

gets you going, but
keeps you going.

Discipline: training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. —1 Corinthians 9:24-27

(WHY) Reasons to have a Rhythm of Bible Engagement:

1 .

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. —Psalm 119:105

2 .

How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. —Psalm 119:9

3 .

1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. —Psalm 1:2–3

I have told you these things so that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing. —John 15:11 (AMP)

4 .

If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. —John 8:31–32

5 .

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. —Romans 15:4

6 .

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. —2 Timothy 3:16–17

22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. —James 1:22-25
