David, the King of Israel

  • Tended his father’s sheep
  • Anointed as the next king
  • Served King Saul as musician and armor-bearer
  • Stood against, fought, and defeated Goliath
  • Fled murderous pursuits from Saul and his men
  • Gathered a band of followers… a small army
  • Eventually became king

Jesus, the King of Kings

  • Tended His Father’s sheep
  • Jesus was anointed
  • Jesus defeated a seemingly impossible opponent
  • Jesus was pursued by evil, murderous people
  • Jesus gather a band of followers…disciples
  • Jesus conquered sin AND death…and rose from the grave
  • Jesus IS King

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. —Zechariah 9:9
