Breaking Through Barriers
Genesis 1:27 -
1 .
He was a devout man and feared God along with his whole household. He did many charitable deeds for the Jewish people and always prayed to God. —Acts 10:2
A voice said to him, “Get up, Peter; kill and eat.” “No, Lord!” Peter said. “For I have never eaten anything impure and ritually unclean.” Again, a second time, the voice said to him, “What God has made clean, do not call impure.” —Acts 10:13–15
You know it’s forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner, but God has shown me that I must not call any person impure or unclean. —Acts 10:28
Now I truly understand that God doesn’t show favoritism, but in every nation the person who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. He sent the message to the Israelites, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all. —Acts 10:34–36
God doesn’t play
Acts 10:38-43 -
If, then, God gave them the same gift that he also gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I possibly hinder God?” When they heard this they became silent. And they glorified God, saying, “So then, God has given repentance resulting in life even to the Gentiles.” —Acts 11:17–18
2 . Earnestly
So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was praying fervently to God for him. —Acts 12:5
3 . Eliminate Unnecessary
Now then, why are you testing God by putting a yoke on the disciples’ necks that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear? On the contrary, we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus in the same way they are. —Acts 15:10–11
Therefore, in my judgment, we should not cause difficulties for those among the Gentiles who turn to God, but instead we should write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from eating anything that has been strangled, and from blood. —Acts 15:19–21
For it was the Holy Spirit’s decision—and ours—not to place further burdens on you beyond these requirements: that you abstain from food offered to idols, from blood, from eating anything that has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. —Acts 15:28–29
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 -
