THINK WITH THE END IN MIND

Text: Gen. 12-50

1. Abraham’s Family Harvest

1) Creating a harvest

  • What you sow affects your family’s harvest.

1] Abraham sows deception (Gen. 12:13)

2] Abraham and Sarah sow deception (Gen. 20:2)

    3]
     sows deception (Gen. 26:7)

4] Isaac reaps the deception of Rebekah and Jacob (Gen. 27:1-46)

5] Jacob reaps the deception of
     (Gen. 29:15-30)

6] Jacob reaps the deception of his
     (Gen. 37:1-36)

2) Changing the harvest (Gen. 50:15-21)

  • Joseph could have dropped the hammer on his brothers. They could have reaped what they had sown; instead Joseph changed the seed sown.

2. Your Family’s Harvest

1) Your family’s harvest is

by the seeds you sow

  • What your family does now will affect your family’s future soon and/or eventually.

2) The family’s harvest may be reaped in your lifetime or generations to come

  • Abraham lost his .
  • Abraham lost his dignity.
  • Abraham lost his .
  • Abraham almost lost Sarah and Isaac.
  • Abraham sowed seeds of sin into the future for

    to harvest.

  • What kind of harvest do you want as a result of your legacy? Sow the appropriate seed. Think with the end in mind. (Dt. 20:15-20)

3) Your family’s harvest can be changed

  • You can change the harvest by making choices. When it is all said and done, it is about the choices we are making, or the choices we aren’t making.
  • What kind of harvest do you want to have? You may need to change the seed (i.e. your actions, behavior, activities you’re involved in, obedience to God’s Word, faithfulness to God, etc.).

Bottom line: The harvest that is is determined by the seeds that are .

  • I must think (choose, do, act, behave, etc.) with the end in mind.
