There is a big issue when we have a little knowledge and don’t dive into gaining understanding and Wisdom.
First I want to give you a visual of this:
This guy has the knowledge that sun glasses help block the sun. I would think he understands that you have to wear them, but lacks the wisdom to know when to put them on
See we can have all the tools – the bible, a pastor who teaches – but still lack wisdom to apply it.
Here is an example of a truck that is stuck. I have pushed a lot of vehicles over the years but never tried this way.
These guys have a understanding that a stuck vehicle can be pushed but lack the knowledge and wisdom to actual push the vehicle out
This vehicle is not running. Here we have people with knowledge and no understanding or wisdom trying to push from the bed of the truck.
We also have people that have understanding and wisdom on how to push the vehicle pushing from the ground.
So what does the bible say about knowledge, Understanding, and Wisdom?
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)
“Therefore, my people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge …” (Isaiah 5:13)
“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold.
She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.” (Proverbs 3:13)
“Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” (Proverbs 24:3)
Knowledge:
God will first start off by conveying His knowledge to you about something specific. However, knowledge by itself will not get the job done.
Understanding:
Understanding means that you understand the knowledge that has been given to you. If you do not understand the knowledge that has been given to you, then you will not be able to use it or apply it in a real life situation.
** Wisdom:**
Once you understand the knowledge that has been given to you, then there is now one more step you will need to have in order to be able to properly use that knowledge – and that step is having the actual wisdom to be able to use that knowledge in a real life situation.
“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him.” (Daniel 2:20)
Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ (Jeremiah 33:3)
“… that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe …” (Ephesians 1:17)
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, HE WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS, and bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)
GET WISDOM! GET UNDERSTANDING!
Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you: Love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her.
She will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you. ” Hear, my son. and receive my sayings, and the years of your life will be many. I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; keep her, for she is your life.” (Proverbs 4:1-9)
Give attention to know understanding
Get understanding!
And in all your getting – get understanding
Get wisdom!
Wisdom is the principal thing – therefore get wisdom
Take firm hold of instruction, for she is your life
This is just the basement level of what the bible teaches us about Knowledge, Understanding, and Wisdom.
I know it is a lot to take it, but the Holy Spirit is here to help!
I want you to understand how it works in today’s world
I can only describe what I have experienced and how God has lead me to knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.
Even though I have been in ministry for all this time, I have also worked in the marketplace.
A long time ago in the late 90’s I was working for a home security company as a sales manager. I would go out a sale systems, we would have crews go and install. I kept running into a problem of align equipment that could not be installed for various reasons.
I had an understanding about security systems, and some knowledge of installation, but not enough to have the wisdom of when it could not be done. I went with installation crews for a few months to gain more understanding and see why things could not be done. I gained wisdom on how to see what could and could not be done.
How does this relate to healing?
When I first was saved I saw the scriptures in Acts about John and Peter walking through the gates called beautiful and then proclaimed healing over the lame man begging and he was healed – Acts 3
I prayed that God let me witness someone being healed. My knowledge was limited
God decided to show me healing through the healing of my knee after a skiing accident that snapped my leg. God healed it. My knowledge of healing grew, but I did not have an understanding of healing.
I read and taught the scriptures from this limited knowledge. I spent many years – almost 14- going for healing with little to no results. Just a few healings in all that time. My knowledge was high in scriptures, but my understanding and wisdom were low that caused me to not see as much.
Bill Johnsons (senior Pastor of Bethel Church in Redding California) teachings help me understand that we are called to live in this Kingdom of Heaven at hand as a reality
I started to get more understanding and started to see God heal more people.
Then God sent me to PA and to learn from Dr. Randy Clark ( founder of Global Awakening). Through the school and taking action on trips etc., My knowledge and understanding grew to wisdom through the Holy Spirit to see massive number of Healings.
Even with training and equipping people, I have had to grow in knowledge, understanding, and wisdom to see people activated in the ministry of healing.
One of the things I have learned to grow in is more knowledge, understanding, and wisdom when it comes to Faith
For too long I thought I had to build my faith for healing or make my faith for healing stronger. It was all up to me.
It is a wrong understanding
First off – Faith for healing needs based on our understanding that the cross did so much more than save us from sin. Yes what Jesus did on the cross saves us and brings forgiveness.
Romans 6 1-5 ESV
6 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
We also can learn that God builds our Faith
Hebrews 12:2 ESV.
2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
This is just the start of getting the complete understanding of how faith for healing works in the this works in the Kingdom of God.
I mention John 14:12 that we are called to do what Jesus did and greater things.
Knowledge that you are called to be like Jesus is just the start.
Jesus healed the sick, cleansed the leapers, cast out demons, and raised the dead.
You are called to do what Jesus did and greater things
We can dive in a deeper understanding of this later in John,
John 20:20-25 ESV
20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
WOW! There is a simple knowledge that as Christians we should be Christ like.
A deeper understanding is that we should do what Jesus did and We are the Answer for the world Just as Jesus was sent by the Father. He sends you!
John 20:22 say we breath on them and Said receive the Holy Spirit. This is how we get wisdom to walk as ambassadors of the Kingdom of Heaven!
