THE TRINITY
1 John 5:7 says:
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Philippians 2:12-13 says:
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
INTRODUCTION
Once a person has received Jesus as LORD, they are now created unto good works. Look at what God’s Word teaches us about salvation and works.
Ephesians 2:8-10 says:
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Let’s break this down to understand it clearly:
- Salvation comes by God’s
- Faith is God-
- All of salvation is a
- We are the creation and
- There is none
- God has had a
There is a false religion that declares: “Work out your own salvation. Do not depend upon others.” —Budda
In order for the church, or a believer, to know WHAT they should be doing for the kingdom of God, they should know HOW they were saved and created unto these good works. We as the body of Christ should know why we are saved and how we should now live.
LET’S NOT FORGET
WE WORK
As believers in Jesus, we are saved unto work, we do
Philippians 2:1-3 says:
If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
LET’S NOT FORGET
WE WORK
Asking the question of “why” we work will help keep us focused on the truth of our mission or our task. If we do not understand “why” or “what” we are working for, the Lord and His kingdom, then the chances of just sitting by idle increase greatly.
Philippians 2:5-11 says:
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Salvation has been worked IN us by Grace through Faith, but it is worked OUT from us through obedience and love. —Steve Abney
