Next Steps

• I will connect this week with others to discuss the Digging Deeper resource.

• I am going to choose to be a person through which God can speak hope into someone else’s life.

Digging Deeper…

While anyone can take time to answer these questions individually, these questions are best
discussed in a group, or with another person! Not in a group yet? Please reach out to us via email:
Main Campus Josh@hopemc.org / North Campus Todd@hopemc.org

DISCUSS:

Take a few minutes to discuss the sermon you heard on Isaiah 9:1-7, John 1:1-14 by answering these questions:

• If you had to explain the main point of the sermon to someone who was not there, what would you say?

• Which points from the sermon connected with you the most? Why?

PRAY:

Take a moment to pray out loud as a group. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead the discussion and teach you both individually and collectively from the passage you are about to read.

READ:

Read Isaiah 9:1-7, John 1:1-14 out loud with your group.

ASK:

Answer these questions as a group:

• What did you like about this passage?
• What did you find challenging or hard to understand?
• What things do you struggle with when you read this passage?
• (Read Romans 15:13) What does this passage remind us about hope?
• What do you believe about the statement: “Hope is essential for life.” Where does this statement ring true?
• (Read Proverbs 13:12) Where is your hope deferred? What is it that you are waiting for?
• Pastor Mark talked about that if we are leading anything, a family, another person, a group, etc. that our responsibility is to protect hope. How does that statement strike you? Is this natural for you, or is it hard for you? Where do you need His strength and guidance in?

APPLY:

Take a few minutes to write down two or three steps to take this week to put this text into action. Share your steps with your group.

• Who do you need to share the story of the Hope of Christ with?

• Pastor Mark challenged us to communicate hope to others in this season through “simple kindness cards.” How are you going to utilize these? Please share your story by emailing it to: stories@hopemc.org or using the Hope Church APP.
