
Revelation 5:1-5
5Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” 3And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, 4and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. 5And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”
*Verse 1 - “Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals.” *
Point 1 - It was standard in that day that scrolls with official notices and communiques were only written on one side.
Point 2 - The image of seven seals was fairly common in the Roman world, where seven seals were often used to seal the scroll of an official proclamation. Such an image of a seven-sealed scroll would convey a message of
Point 3 - We hear this kind of language in the Apostles Creed where Christians confess of Jesus, “He was raised on the third day, he ascended into heaven, and sits at the

Point 4 - The angel’s declarative question suggests there is no one in sight who might have the

Point 5 - This elder has some hopeful and helpful news. Note: It is the elder that delivers this news, not the
Point 6 - While angels are ministry agents of the LORD God, but the sweetest of all messages is given humans to deliver the
Point 7 - It is Christ Jesus, the Lamb of God, the One Who sits on the throne having victoriously saved people from their sins. John gets to see, and now you and I can appreciate that Jesus’ death on the cross as the sacrificial Lamb for us brings salvation. See? There is hope for us.
Point 8 - Christ is the worthy One, the One worthy to open the seven seals, making good this great proclamation. The One who IS worthy makes YOU
