God’s Remedy for Heart Trouble

Feb 24, 2019

John 14:1-6
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.”

5 “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

Disciples are Troubled
“And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” He said this to indicate how he was going to die.” John 12:32-33 NLT

“Jesus was deeply troubled, and he exclaimed, “… one of you will betray me!” John 13:21

“Jesus answered, “Die for me? I tell you the truth, Peter—before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.” John 13:38 NLT

“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat.” Luke 22:31 NLT

“Jesus told them, Tonight all of you will desert me.” Matthew 26:31 NLT

“Dear children, I will be with you only a little longer. …you will search for
me, but you can’t come where I am going.” John 13:33 NLT

Reasons why we don’t need to be troubled…

1. We can Take God at His

“You believe in God; believe also in me.”  John 14:1 NIV
“Trust in God, and trust also in me.” John 14:1 NLT

Reading His Word is one way to deal with stress and worry in your life.
“I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? Psa 56:4 NLT.

“The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety.” – George Muller

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
2 Tim 3:16-17 NLT

2. We can Trust we are going to

“There is more than enough room in my Father’s home.”
John 14:2 NLT
Heaven is:
A kingdom – 2 Peter 1:11
An inheritance – 1 Peter 1:4
A Country – Heb 11:16
A City – Heb 11:16
A Home – John 14:2

No matter how difficult your life here on earth is, it pales in comparison to this great hope we have.
“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!” 2 Cor 4:17 NLT

3. We need to remember that Jesus is

“When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” John 14:3 NLT.

“The Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that we who are still alive and are left with be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” 1 Th 4:16-17 NIV

“Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.” Heb 9:28 NLT

“Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.” Mat 24:40
“On that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Luk 17:34

“And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:4 NLT

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NLT

This is a very exclusive and intolerant statement, but truth by definition is
