Icebreaker - Discuss some of your fondest memories of the Advent season?

Read Isaiah 9:1-7

  1. Although Christmas can remind us of some wonderful times it can also dredge up some dark times. Share a time when the darkness made this time of year a challenge?

  2. How can Jesus cut through the gloom and anguish that sometimes accompanies the Advent season?

  3. According to Isaiah 9:3, the light of Jesus brings joy and rejoicing. What aspect, or characteristic of God fills you with the most joy?

  4. Jesus frees His people from bondage. Are there any chains of sin that you are struggling with at the moment? If so, pray together and ask the LORD to remind you of the victory He has already won for you.

  5. Isaiah 9:6 ”For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Which of these titles for Jesus resonate within you most and why?
