NEXT WEEK: Hope for Exiles: A Study of 1 Peter, 1 Peter 3:8-22

SMALL GROUP GUIDE

  • Weekly Vision Casting: One of the key ingredients of small groups at Trinity is a Biblical foundation. How can we maintain a biblical foundation as a group?
  • Opening Prayer
  • Small Group Guidelines (if necessary)
  • Warm Up Question
  • Head, Heart, and Hand Questions
  • Personal Prayer Requests
  • SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

WARM UP: Have you ever had a near death experience? [On Sunday Pastor Peter shared about his near-death experience flying on an airplane. When what we experience is different than what we expected, this tests our trust. In Luke 24 we see the disciples’ trust in God was tested also.]

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
    1. Put yourself in the shoes of the disciples on the Saturday between Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. Did their expectations match up with their experience?
    2. Read Luke 24:1-12. Why do you think the disciples didn’t believe the women (v. 11)?
    3. Why do you think Peter believed the report of Jesus’ resurrection when the other disciples didn’t?
    4. How did the evidence for the resurrection affect the disciples’ trust in God after this?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
    1. When it comes to your relationship with God, has there ever been a gap between your expectations and your experience?
    2. How would you finish the sentence? “Over the past year, I’ve learned that God is still

    _.” Explain.

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
    1. How can you grow in your trust in God’s character?
    2. What are some passages in the Bible that you can go to to be reminded of God’s character?
