Deuteronomy 6:4-8

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

2 Timothy 1:3-5

I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

Deuteronomy 4:9

“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

Matthew 18:6-7

“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

We must be in our thinking and actions.

Getting to Know You

  1. What is your spiritual heritage? (Raised in a Christian home, how many generations, or did it start with you?)

  1. What lesson were you taught by a parent that you are still grateful for today?

Going Deeper

  1. Read Matthew 18:1-14. How does Jesus look at children? What are some significant connections he makes to being a child if one is to follow Him? How does He care for children?

  1. List some ways we teach children whether we are their parents, grandparents, members of the church, neighbors or friends.

  1. Spend some time as a group praying for the children connected to Emmanuel.
