2 Peter 3:10-13 Sermon Notes
January 21, 2023

So far Peter has answers some serious questions for us.
1. Does it matter how we live?
2. Then he provided a test to determine who we are living for.
3. Next he answered the question why is it important for us to live for Jesus, and the answer was given, Jesus is coming back soon.
4. So this morning, Peter answers the question when should we begin living for Jesus. Is there a certain age, after sowing some oats? After college? Peter is going to answer this for us.

We need to be reminded why our Lord has not come back yet. (2 Peter 3:9) He is giving everyone the opportunity to repent.

Peter gets right to the point in our text.

  1. Jesus’ return will occur like a thief in the night. (10) This simply means that Jesus is going to return when we least expect it.
  2. Jesus’ return will be accompanied by a great noise. (10) His return will be witnessed by all living people throughout the world, all at the same time. (Acts 1:9-11).
  3. Jesus’ return will melt away our personal achievements. (10-11) At this time there will be no more fortunes to amass, no prestige to obtain, and no honor to gain. All of these things, along with the items that thrust us toward greatness will no longer exist, along with our world, and all of the galaxies we know about, and have yet to discover.

All that is will be left is where you will spend eternity. So have you every gotten real with Jesus? If you have, then who are you living for? and what are you living for? The time to prepare for His return is now. So come this morning.
