Sermon Notes

Philippians 1:6 adds this to our key verses: “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Is God speaking into a particular area of your life right now, offering you some new joy and/or renewed hope that has been dwindling perhaps?

In the hardships of this life, it’s easy to forget, or downplay why we were created in the first place. What are your thoughts on that? How does Philippians 1:11 either affirm or change your view? “May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation-the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ-for this will bring much glory and praise to God.” Philippians 1:11 (See Isaiah 43:7, Colossians 1:16, Ephesians 2:10 for more)

From prison, Paul wrote our Philippians passage of today to rejoice in the fact that God was using evil for the good and furtherance of His Gospel. What are some practical ways you can embrace of joy, when you encounter the troubles we do, in daily life?
