 Be Still and Know
The Character & Attributes of God
               Psalm 102:23-28
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among
the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10

I. God is ETERNAL (Ps. 90:1-4)
God is Eternal in that He is not limited by time, free from
the succession of time & minutes & is

-
He exists in the past, present & future at the same time!
cf. Gen. 21:33; Ps. 90:2; 102:24,27; Is. 40:28; 44:6; Rev. 22:13
“From everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” Moses
Our Everlasting God exists in an ever-present now & yet
time to accomplish His divine purposes.
cf. Ex. 3:14; Eccles. 3:11; Jn. 8:58; Acts 17:24-31; Gal. 4:4-5
“God dwells in eternity but time dwells in God.” A.W. Tozer
In light of God’s eternality, Moses’ Prayer is for God to
teach us to “number our days” & make us wise in
our use of His time. cf. Ps. 90:12; Eph. 5:15-16; Col. 4:5
II. God is UNCHANGING (Ps. 102:25-28)
Another attribute that God doesn’t share with His creation
is His Immutability – He has no mutations or change in His
Being, Character, Word, & Promises.
cf. Ps. 102:25-28; 107:17; Prov. 19:21; Mal. 3:6; Js. 1:17
“Only He (God) is pure being & no becoming.” Herman Bavinck
His Being – never stops being God (Ps. 102:27; Js. 1:17)
His Attributes – all attributes are unchanging (Mal. 3:6)
His Word – cannot fail to come to pass (Ps. 119:89; Is. 40:6)
His Will – never a Plan B (Num. 23:19; Ps. 33:10-11; Is. 46:9-11)
His Salvation – no ‘drop-outs’ (Jn. 5:24; 6:35,39; 10:28; 11:26)
Why does the Bible say that ‘God Repents?’
God’s ‘repentance’ is not like man’s but rather is simply an
expression of His differently to different
situations. cf. Ex. 32:9-14; Jon. 3; Num. 23:19; 1 Sam. 15:29
Psalm 102:25-26 is used in Heb. 1:10-12 where it is applied
to Jesus Christ, the Messiah, who is ‘the same yesterday,
today & .’ cf. Heb. 13:8; Rev. 1:8; 4:8; 22:13
“Here then is a Rock on which we may fix our feet.” A.W. Pink

1 – Do you know for sure that you have Eternal Life? How?
2 – How does God’s Immutability provide you with Comfort?
3 – How does God’s Eternality & Immutability affect pagans?
