Discussion Questions
The Colossians’ story is our story– the explicit gospel, our identity– we were separated from God by our sin, God sent his son to earth and to the cross, and the blood of Jesus paid the price for our forgiveness and reconciled us to God.
How prominently does this appear when you meet new people and tell your story?
In what parts of your life narrative are you missing an opportunity to share this story?
Verse 23 encourages us to continue in the faith and to not shift from the hope of the gospel.
Have you wrestled with the doctrine of eternal security and some of the conditional statements like vs 23 (if you continue in the faith…)?
How do you reconcile the truth that nothing can pluck you from God’s hand with the warnings like Paul read Sunday?
What happens in your theological understanding when a Christian friend deconstructs and denounces their faith? Is God still keeping his promise to continue a good work in that person?
