Is there anything that you’ve done, or seen done, that you thought was impossible to do?
Read Luke 1:26-38. What part of this passage sticks out to you? Any questions that it brings up in your mind? Share that with the group.
Outside of Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree, there isn’t much humbleness about an American Christmas. Do you think it’s important to remember humility as part of the birth of Christ? If so, why?
Does anyone in your group have a Catholic history or upbringing? If so, have them discuss the emphasis on Mary and how they experienced it.
Read 2 Samuel 7:1-17. Read also Hebrews 1:8 and Psalm 89:3-4. Discuss the ideas of those passages and how they connect Gabriel’s words to Mary.
Read 1 John 1:1-4 and discuss the two natures of Christ. Do you tend to relate to Jesus as one over the other? How can that lead to a misunderstanding of Jesus, even his work on the cross?
- Read Hebrews 4:14-15. What comfort does this passage bring to our daily lives? Is there a specific circumstance in your life right now that you need to meditate on the truth of this passage?
Close in prayer.
