FRAGRANCE-FREE REQUEST
You may already be aware of this, but several of our members experience severe allergic reactions to certain fragrances. In the spirit of “serving one another humbly in love,” we gently ask that you consider avoiding perfumes, colognes, and strongly scented products when attending GPBC. This simple act of kindness helps ensure everyone can fully participate in our church community. Thank you for your understanding!
WEEKLY SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
If you would like to use the weekly questions to delve into the sermon more deeply, they are available on the web, app, or printed and available on the sound booth wall.
MANNA MINISTRY
Manna Ministry provides meals to people who are in crisis or other need. Our supplies are running low. Would you help rebuild our stock by preparing some food that can be frozen and ready to deliver? (Please list ingredients for those who are gluten- or dairy-free.) If you’d like to help but cooking isn’t your thing, you can donate money for someone to shop for a meal. No donation is too small. Contact Leslie Hillman at 503-281-4589 for more details or with questions.
WORSHIP TEAM VOLUNTEERS
Every week individuals come together using their talents and abilities to lead our congregation in worship of Jesus Christ. From musicians to vocalists and from sound boards to slides there are plenty of ways to serve the body of Christ on the band, vocal, and A/V teams. If you are interested in auditioning for the worship band or want to learn more about serving in the sound booth, you can reach out to Mike Simpson, our Interim Worship Director, at 971.295.2581 or mike.j.simpson@gmail.com.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Would you like to make a difference in a child’s life? We have immediate needs for volunteers in our children’s ministry in a variety of different roles. Our kids need special people like you now. Sunday morning children’s classroom volunteers serve one Sunday a month. We need helpers in our nursery through elementary classes, computer support on Sundays, as well as projects that come up mid-week. Please reach out to our children’s ministry director, Donna Hardman, at dhardman@pdxchurch.org or 971-231-4998 to ask questions or to sign up.
ON-GOING EVENTS
ADULT SUNDAY CLASSES 9:15am
• Connection Point*
This class is taking a break for the summer. Check back for fall kickoff information.
• Come and See: Psalms
The Come and See Class is in a series on the Psalms. As the ancient prayer book and songbook of God’s people, the Psalms have inspired deep worship, soothed sorrowful hearts, and given hope to the oppressed for thousands of years. Though originally meant to be sung, their beauty and power transcend time, allowing every generation to bring their own voice to these sacred words. Join us as we learn to read and pray through the Psalms, experiencing thankfulness and worship while also bringing our sorrow and lament before God. Grow in faith as you enter His presence and encounter His joy, comfort, and power. Sundays at 9:15am in the Columbia Room.
SMALL GROUPS
Community groups are places where you can grow in transparency, grow in relationship with others, while studying the Bible and supporting one another in prayer. We’ve got new and existing community groups looking for new members this fall. For a list of groups, their locations and times, check out the small groups page of our website. Sign up to get connected online or in our app.

HELPING PEOPLE FIND & FOLLOW JESUS TOGETHER
JESUS, who He is, what He has done, and what He is doing are of ultimate importance to our church and to our lives. He is our Savior, Sustainer, and Lord. We want to follow Him closely in everything, so all we are and do points to Him.
HELPING PEOPLE FIND & FOLLOW, regardless of where people are in their spiritual journey, we are ready to help them discover the wonder and beauty of Jesus and to encourage and support them in their efforts to know him better and to live life according to His teaching, values, and desires.
TOGETHER, we recognize that following Jesus is not a solo journey. It is a community adventure in which each member is committed to the well-being of all the others and has a specific, God-given role to play in the health of the community.
Our Scripture For Today*
52 But he brought his people out like a flock;
he led them like sheep through the wilderness.
53 He guided them safely, so they were unafraid;
but the sea engulfed their enemies.
54 And so he brought them to the border of his holy land,
to the hill country his right hand had taken.
55 He drove out nations before them
and allotted their lands to them as an inheritance;
he settled the tribes of Israel in their homes. —Psalm 78:52-55 (NIV)
