Use the following questions based on today’s sermon as a starting point for spiritual discussions with your family or a small group of Christian friends this week.
Fellowship—Relationship with a Purpose
- Where do you prefer to serve? Would you rather be in front of people or behind the scenes? Why?
Growth—Thinking About Spiritual Matters
- Read Acts 6:1. What was the major complaint facing the early church? Does this sound like a serious issue or a trivial one? Explain your answer.
- What problems would the perception (or reality) of unfairness and disunity cause for the church? How have you seen similar situations play out in modern churches?
- Who needed to handle the situation in Acts 6? Why are godly leaders so important for a church?
- Read Acts 6:2-4. Which tasks were protected by the apostles’ solution? How would that protection help build the church?
- Which tasks were delegated by the apostles? How would that delegation help grow the church?
- What tasks today might be tasks that the leaders of the church could delegate? Why?
- Unity doesn’t just happen. What qualities (spiritual or otherwise) make unity possible? Explain your answer(s).
- Are you willing to do what is best for the church, even if it goes against your preferences? Are your leaders?
Prayer – Taking Your Thoughts to God
- Pray for sound leadership for Tonganoxie Christian Church that will move the church forward.
- Pray for our church to be unified among its people, multiplied in its membership, and magnified in its honor of Jesus.
