Jonah 1:1-3 (NKJV)
1 Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” 3 But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.

Discussion Questions
1) Read Matthew 9:37-38. When you think of “the harvest” what comes to mind? Knowing that God has called you to be a “laborer” in this harvest, do you feel encouraged, intimidated, excited, scared, etc.? What can you do to ensure that you have a godly mindset when it comes to the harvest?
2) Read Matt 16:18. Jesus told Peter that the gates of Hades/hell would not prevail against the Church. Many times, we read this verse and think it means that the church would be able to withstand the attacks of the enemy. However, gates are meant for defense and not offense. With all that in mind, what does this say about the role of the Church in relation to the gates of hell? How should this encourage you when it comes to sharing the Good News of Jesus?
3) Be honest. How do you feel when the idea of sharing the gospel comes to mind? Does it make you excited or anxious? What can we do to overcome our hesitations? What role does the Holy Spirit take in doing this?
