Born (to grow up) Again

Last Week: John 3:1-8 | Jesus told a high-ranking leader he had to be born again to enter Jesus’ government.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, —1 Peter 1:3,4

for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. —I Peter 1:23

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a man, but of God. —John 1:12,13

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. —Ephesians 1:5 (NLT)

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters; —Romans 8:28-29

*The Father’s purpose/plan is to change us into the

of the Son. *
- Image= likeness, representation, expression.
- Maybe don’t ask, ‘Why is this happening?’, but ask, ‘What is God doing in me?’

is a loaded term. It doesn’t mean that God chose some people to be in Christ, and chose others to not be in Christ. He is saying that to ‘those’ (that group of people), who responded to the gospel, they were chosen to be conformed to Jesus.

He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. —1 John 2:2

The Father’s goal, His underlying motive, His ‘agenda’, is that we would become in

, what we have attained in .

Predestines – Calls - Justifies – Glorifies
- God justifies his actions in us.
- God, in Christ, didn’t come down here and justify Himself, He came to justify you!

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. —John 3:16,17

God is so smart that He presents such a case (world, enemy, own satisfaction) that we are justified and free from any shame, guilt, or condemnation. The defense of his actions/and our new position is so complete, there is no doubt.
- We are declared righteous or in right relationship with God, because of Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:21

What is Glory?
What is the conenction of glory and God’s people in the New Testament?
