Do You Love Me?

7 Questions:

• Are you asleep?
• What do you want?
• Why do you worry?
• How many loaves do you have?
• Do you want to get well?
• Do you realize what I have done for you?
• Do you love Me?

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40 (NLT)

After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love Me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “You know I love You.” “Then feed My lambs,” Jesus told him. Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love Me?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “You know I love You.” “Then take care of My sheep,” Jesus said. A third time He asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, You know everything. You know that I love You.” Jesus said, “Then feed My sheep. John 21:15-17 (NLT)

Do you love Me?

If you love Me, obey My commandments…Those who accept My commandments and obey them are the ones who love Me…All who love Me will do what I say…Anyone who doesn’t love Me will not obey Me. John 14:15, 21, 23-24

Love for God is most clearly expressed through obedience.

Love for God is fueled by knowing:

• His character and attributes

I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God Ephesians 1:16(b)-17 (NLT)

Love for God is fueled by knowing:

• His character and attributes
• His love for you

We love, because He first loved us. —1 John 4:19 (NASB)

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:18-19 (NLT)
