Sermon Summary
The Law of Christ is generally translated as the command ″to love God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love your neighbour as yourself. Therefore the instruction by the Apostle Paul to bear one another’s burdens is intrinsically wrapped up in the Law of Christ and must be lived out by every believer.
Verse of the Week
Galatians 6:2
2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Going Deeper
Review Galatians 6:1-3
1) The preacher explained that love is the overarching theme of the one-anothers, explain how you have found this to be so using Scripture references to guide your response.
2) Paul admonishes the Galatians who were spiritual to restore with ‘a spirit of gentleness’ anyone who is caught in a transgression. How important is it to restore the fallen with a ‘spirit of gentleness’?
2b) What role can the uncommon community play in applying this?
3) Using scripture, discuss an example of the church restoring a believer that had fallen away. What aspects of their approach stand out to you?
4) The preacher stated that “spirituality is not about the position we hold or the tasks we do”. He further stated that when Paul specified “you who are spiritual” (Galatians 6:1), he is referring to those Christians who walk in the Spirit, are led by the Spirit, and keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-26).
What has been your thinking about spirituality and how is that thinking being challenged by this study of Scripture?
