JUNE 20, 2021: MIRACLES ARE MESSY WEEK 20
June 20, 2021

THE MIRACLE OF GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE MESSINESS OF OUR UNDERSTANDING

IS THE HOLY SPIRIT GOD?

1. He was there from the beginning.

1  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2  The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3  Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. —Genesis 1:1 - 3

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them  by the breath of His mouth. —Psalms 33:6

1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2  He was in the beginning with God.
3  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. —John 1:1 - 3

2. He is omnipresent.

7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8  If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9  If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10  Even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.
11  If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” even the night shall be light about me;
12  Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You. —Psalms 139:7 - 12

3. He is all-knowing.

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. —John 16:13

9  But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
10  But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
11  For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. —1 Corinthians 2:9 - 12

4. He is one-third of the trinity.

34  Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
35  And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. —Luke 1:34 - 35

16  When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
17  And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” —Matthew 3:16 - 17

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. —Matthew 28:19

1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. 2 And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

5 Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. —Acts 5:1 - 5

5. Why is this good news?

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? —1 Corinthians 3:16

14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
15  For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
16  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God
17  and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. —Romans 8:14 - 17

Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him. —John 6:27

21  Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God,
22  who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. —2 Corinthians 1:21 - 22
