Galatians 5
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Galatians 5
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Sexual Immorality - illicit sexual intercourse, adultery, fornication (sex outside of a marriage relationship), homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc…any type of sex that goes outside of God’s design!
Impurity - uncleanness (in a moral sense): the impurity of lustful, luxurious, profligate living or impure motives.
Sensuality - uncontrolled lust, excess, licentiousness (lacking moral restraints), lasciviousness (filled with or showing sexual desire), wantonness (reckless freedom from inhibition or worry…lacking restraint), outrageousness, shamelessness, insolence (rude, disrespectful).
Idolatry - Putting anything else in God’s place. Trusting anything more than we trust God.
Witchcraft - Pharmakeia: the use or the administering of drugs, poisoning, sorcery, magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry and fostered by it.
Hatred/Enmity - the state or feeling of being actively opposed or hostile to someone or something. Making an enemy out of someone or something.
Strife - contention (heated disagreement), angry/bitter disputes about fundamental issues, wrangling (engagement in long drawn out disputes).
Jealousy - passionate resentment (toward someone else’s possessions, qualities, or good fortune); an envious and contentious rivalry.
Fits of Anger - passionate, heated anger; boiling up and soon subsiding again.
Selfish Ambition/Rivalries - a desire to put one’s self forward, a partisan and fractious spirit, looks down on others.
Dissensions - disagreement that leads to discord.
Factions/Divisions - a group of people following their own tenets. A sect or party. Dissensions arising from diversity of opinions and aims.
Envy - a desire to have a quality, possession, or good fortune that belongs to someone else.
Drunkenness - intoxication of alcohol.
Reveling/Orgies - enjoy oneself in a lively and noisy way, especially with drinking and dancing.
