As much as we don’t want to give our enemy, the devil, a place at our tables, in our minds, he often finds a way to

in.

Jesus: “… [The devil] was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” —John 8:44 (NLT)

SOME OF THE ENEMY’S MOST COMMON LIES

  1. THE LIE OF

Satan loves to get us comparing ourselves to and standards.

Jesus: “A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy.…” —John 10:10a (Message)

Satan’s deceptions and lies often make what he’s offering sound very

    .

As we get into going where Satan’s pointing us, we to discover that what he painted is either always just , or, if we do get it, it turns out to be what he promised.

The enemy can misuse social media to lead us to believe a person’s is really their whole life, and that comparison leaves us wanting what they have.

Jesus: “A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness.” —John 10:10 (Message)
Jesus offers us a life where we can be happy and content with we are and we have.

… I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. —Philippians 4:11-13 (NLT)

  2. THE LIE THAT YOU’RE

Before long we start believing the lie; we start repeating the lie; we start living the lie and become a prophecy.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me…. —Psalms 23:4 (ESV)
No matter what it is you’re facing, God never intended for you to go through it alone – He’s always wanted to go with us

    whatever we’re facing.

Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters—a pathway no one knew was there! —Psalms 77:19 (NLT)
Sometimes, God’s plan is not to save us out of some adversity but save us as we go that adversity – to show us ways we never would have otherwise seen, to teach us things that we could only learn by taking that journey, but we don’t take it !

… do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?… —2 Corinthians 13:5 (ESV)
The prayer that’s more helpful is asking God to help us realize He’s through his Spirit, so that we recognize this truth and place the journey in His hands.

  3. THE LIE THAT YOU’RE

Scripture calls us to be , to genuinely recognize our limits, our faults and failings and even confess them.

Humility isn’t thinking less of ourselves, but it’s thinking of ourselves .

The enemy, the Devil, can this lie either to lead you to an overinflated ego, or lead you to fail to realize just how significant and valuable you are.

The lie of not being enough, of being worthless, was composed in the pit of , and it will cripple you and hold you back in so many ways if you let it.

Jesus, our Good Shepherd, is holy and perfect, but he’s invited you to this table, to sit down with him, for it cost him to make this possible for you.

Jesus: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.”” —John 10:11 (NLT)

  4. THE LIE THAT IT’S YOU AGAINST THE

If you’ve bought into this lie, and you may put up , become defensive, aren’t willing to trust, and may even begin to believe it must all be your fault.

This lie makes it easy for us to create the false storyline that the world’s you and you’re a .

You may be surrounded by a world that seems to be against you, but God has set a table for you right in the of all this, and He’s got your !

Your Good Shepherd has laid out you need so you don’t have to keep walls up or try to hold onto whatever you have.

Anger, hate and withdrawal will never change anything or anyone, but letting the love of your Good Shepherd overflow in you and through you can change , and in the process, change , as you discover He really is faithful.

For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us. —Romans 8:29-34 (NLT)
