Focal verse for the year:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” —Matthew 7:7

WE BELIEVE: What’s The Score, 490?

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. —Matthew 6:9-12 ESV

Forgiving others as we have experienced forgiveness is God’s plan for our relationships.

We are forgiven.

We forgive others.

We ask to be forgiven.

Base your request for forgiveness on your forgiveness of others.
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Forgiveness is not…

Forgiveness is not SAYING IT IS OK.

He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”
“I have no husband,” she replied.
Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband…
Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did… —John 4:16-19, 28-29

Forgiveness is not FORGETTING

“I - yes, I alone - will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again. —Isaiah 43:25

Forgiveness is not FAIR

He does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. —Psalm 103:10-12

How To Forgive

Ask God to change your language.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander… (Eph 4:31)

Pray for them.
Pray for rhose who persecute you, (ESV)
*Pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you (KJV)*
Matthew 5:44

But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! —Matthew 5:44

And be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. —Ephesians 4:32 KJV

Forgiveness is more than a math problem.

Then Peter came to him and asked, Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”
“No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!” —Matthew 18:21-23

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
