1 Kings 16:33 - Ahab did more to provoke the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
1 Kings 17:1 - Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”

1 Kings 17:2 - And the word of the Lord came to him: 3 “Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.”

God must work you before He can work you.

1 Kings 17:4“You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”

1 Kings 17:5 - So he went and did according to the word of the Lord. He went and lived by the brook Cherith that is east of the Jordan. 6 And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.

1 Kings 17:7 - And after a while the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.

BIBLE STUDY QUESTIONS

LIFE GROUP LEADERS: TAKE ATTENDANCE!!
(Use the Church Center App)

1) Share a time in your life when you had big plans, but everything fell apart. How did you handle it?

2) What blessed you the most from this week’s sermon?

Read: 1 Kings 17:1 - Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.” And the word of the Lord came to him: 3 “Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.”

1 Kings 17:7 - And after a while the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land. 8 Then the word of the Lord came to him, 9 “Arise, go to Zarephath …

3) When God led Elijah to leave his home and confront Ahab and Jezebel, God did not tell Elijah what was going happen to him next. But Elijah went anyway. Had Elijah waited for all his questions to be answered, he may have never gone at all. Why do you think God does not give us every detail of His plan for our lives?

4) Has God called you to follow Him, but you are hesitating, waiting on more details? What should you do?

5) Do you think it was harder for Elijah to confront Ahab or sit in hiding next to the Cherith every day? Which takes more faith? Which would be harder for you? Explain.

Read Proverbs 16:9 - The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

6) Pastor Jason says that if you want to be used by God you must learn to take one step of faith at a time and with each step, stay humble. What does that mean?

7) Pray for one another.
